Dezső wakes up to find
the rotten fruit worm has nested in his stomach
for ten years in his dreams, from the mountaintop
the tall, fat calf's liver-yellow eye stares down at him

moonshine on its back, looking for a trough
its ragged tongue hangs to the ground
plants die under its crotch
it looks down from the mountain and laughs silently

Dezső begs: don't look at me, calf
I'm my father's son, my shadow is long

the same drink, the same dream
someday Dezső will stay in bed forever
he'll birth the calf, he'll birth the worm
10 years of labor ends amongst the pillows
